Best time to visit Kedarnath

The season in April till the onset of monsoons and post-monsoon till close of the season. Kedarnath has a cold climate for the most part of the year and the best months of travel are May, June, September, October and December.

By Air

By Rail

The nearest railway station to Kedarnath is Rishikesh, at a distance approximately 215 KMs  Further, Taxis and buses are easily available to reach Gaurikund your destination.

By Road

The Gaurikund is connected with major destinations in North India. Where alot of Buses and  shared cabs are available from Rishikesh & Rudraprayag to Sonprayag.

The government offered a free cab facility from Sonprayag where the cab will drop you in Gaurikund for a free.

Festivals Celebrated in Kedarnath


The Vinayak Chathurthi and Deepawali are celebrated here during the months of September and October.
 The Shravani Annakoot Mela is celebrated on the day before Raksha Bandhan during August.


Vasuki Tal Take 

The Lord Vishnu took a bath in this glacial lake and hence it came to be known as Vasuki Tal. Treating you to sweeping views of the Chaukhamba peaks, this vasuki tal lake is also famous for the blooming Brahmakamals. 
This lake is Located in the Kedarnath Wildlife Sanctuary, this region is blessed with enchanting fauna and flora, and you can travel or cover the entire region within a day from Kedarnath.

Triyuginarayan Temple

 Triyuginarayan Temple is Located about 28 km from the Kedarnath Temple, Triyuginarayan Temple is the spot where Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati got married, a divine fire burning perpetually since the Satya Yug is witness to the celestial marriage.
You can click pictures and also collect the ashes of the fire for conjugal bliss, whree you can check out the three kunds or water-bodies nearby.

Gaurikund Temple

Gaurikund Temple is  popular in Hindu mythology for being the spot where Goddess Parvati did penance to please Lord Shiva, the Gaurikund Temple is about 17 km downhill from the Kedarnath Temple.
